Location
Pangot is a small Himalayan village located about 15 kilometers from Nainital, in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. Nestled at an altitude of around 6,300 feet (1,920 meters), it lies amid dense oak, pine, and rhododendron forests that form part of the Kilbury and Snow View forest ranges — some of the richest birding areas in the Western Himalayas.

Himalayan, Khalij Pheasant, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Blue-throated Barbet, Himalayan Bulbul, Himalayan Woodpecker, Brown Dipper, Slaty-backed Forktail, Streaked Laughingthrush, Black-headed Jay, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Cheer Pheasant (rare but occasionally seen), Hill Partridge, Long-tailed Minivet,Oriental Turtle .
During winter, migratory birds from the upper Himalayas descend into Pangot’s lower altitudes, adding even more diversity.
